Seven Emirates (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, fujairah, Umm Al Quwain) join together(!) to form the UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, which in short is known as UAE..
Every 2nd december is celebrated as the national day of UAE. Why?? I don't know :P
So, I googled it here..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Arab_Emirates
The description is soooo long.. i don't wanna bore you guys so,
The Exact point is -
The rulers of Abu Dhabi and Dubai decided to form a union between their two emirates independently, prepare a constitution, then call the rulers of the other five emirates to a meeting and offer them the opportunity to join. It was also agreed between the two that the constitution be written by December 2, 1971.On that date, at the Dubai Guesthouse Palace, four other emirates agreed to enter into a union called the United Arab Emirates. Ras al-Khaimah joined later, in early 1972.
So, What's special about the UAE National Day??
The Holiday ofcourse! :D
HAHAH.. OK juz kidding!
Being an Indian, I have never given an imporatnce in celebrating my own country's[india] independence or republic day or whatsoever day! All I expect on that day is to get toffee or laddu in my school and having off the rest of the day :P [hey! I was a kid okay!]
So here in UAE, I actually see the celebration of a country celebrating it's National day..
It's really fun! Every nationals really Enjoy and show their gratitude (!)..
Lights, decorations on the buildings, car, street.. Juz awesome.
The Emiratis (Locals) actually dance on top of their car and not to forget about the traffic on that day! cannot move the car an inch!
Here are some pics of the cars decorated on that day..
Seems crazy right??? But, it is not.. it's actually fun! and Amazing!
So, what I did on this day.. ??
Well, we planned to go Abudhabi(the capital) to see the real celebrations over there..
As we planned, we got there.. but.. :(
As I mentioned earlier.. Traffic.. yes..
We couldn't reach the place where we wanted to go, so we returned back to Dubai, by the time we reached , all the functions in Dubai got over.. *sigh*
We just went to the Dubai Mall, had dinner in Chilli's and returned home..
A flop to everyone else who came with me, but not me, hehe.. as I was not at all interested in going Abudhabi since the beginning *boooo* LOL.. hahahah.. I know I am so mean.. but cannot help it ;)
Few pix, taken on that day by my family!
